How much does it really cost to run a hot tub in Utah? Christian Staples of Arctic Spas breaks it down into the two parts of the ongoing cost: the electric bill and treating the water.
Most of the electric bill comes from keeping the water hot, so insulation matters, just like in your house. Arctic Spas are built to be the most well-insulated hot tubs for cold climates, and they reuse the excess heat from the motors to help heat the water instead of venting it out. Expect around $15-$20 a month for a typical Arctic Spa, higher in winter and lower in summer, and about 3 times that for all-weather pools and swim spas kept at swimming temperature. Water treatment and filters usually run $20-$30 a month. All in, that’s about $1.50 a day for entertainment and relaxation.
